Creativity is a peculiar thing. I think most people believe it’s about making things—inventing things that didn’t exist before. But I think it’s something different. I think creativity is a skill that one develops by listening. It is the catalyst for creation. I believe creativity is listening to the sound of all that exists. My yoga teacher and his wife are having a baby. At the end of one of his classes he invited us all to attend. Normally, I avoid these things like the plague, but I am new to the west side and LA in general, and have been making efforts to connect with people in Venice and Santa Monica to become part of a community. Finding a fit has been hard. I’ve found that the places I feel most comfortable are the ones where groups of people gather to do individual things, like yoga. I go
My four-legged creature and I are blessed to live in Santa Monica, just a short walk from the Pacific Ocean. This patch of Palisades Park has become our front yard. It's only a block from the apartment, but getting there is rarely as simple as it sounds because Pudge has a mind of his own. He doesn’t love walking. He loves attention. People, dogs, anyone willing to give him attention. He’ll lay down or roll around at a busy section of sidewalk to lure in those passing by. I h
